Phinehas (son of Eleazar)

Phinehas (son of Eleazar) is a high priest living at the time of Egypt and the wilderness, from the tribe of Levi. He is named in 16 verses of the Bible, first in Exodus 6:25.

  And Eleazar Aaron’s son took him one of the daughters of Putiel to wife; and she bare him Phinehas: these are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families.Aaron’s son Eleazar married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas. These were the heads of the Levite families by their clans.
